Healthy Buildings Australia is a solutions based company devoted to the concept of ‘Creating Healthy Spaces’. A ‘Healthy Space’ is an environment where humans live, work or play which has been cleaned with organic, non-toxic products and has been protected against the spread of harmful bacteria, viruses, mould and mildew. Developments in human immunodeficiencies mean that the transfer of sicknesses and disease happens in shorter time frames and people are becoming infected more easily. ‘Healthy Spaces’ ensure that the pathogens which cause infection and health problems are neutralised, not just killed, but they are also prevented from developing into resistant, ‘super’ pathogens.
Cleaning, odour & infection control, mould eradication and pathogen containment are just small facets of creating a healthy space, however they make up an incredibly important part of of a person’s life. Modern chemical based cleaners and cleaning techniques are able to achieve these things in the short term, however expansions in overall antimicrobial resistance is revealing that bacteria and germs can re-grow and re-contaminate at alarming rates.
Having the knowledge that the places you live, work and play are clean and protected is something that all people should have, ‘Creating Healthy Spaces’ is how we can do it.
The Healthy Buildings process, along with our range of organic and non-toxic products, have been designed to combat this ever expanding problem. Where any number of available cleaning systems and products aim to do the same thing, the Healthy Buildings difference is that once a surface or areas is clean we apply an organic protective layer which continues to eradicate pathogens like bacteria, viruses, mould and mildew for up to six months. Our targeted three-part system, which includes hand sanitisation, air filtration as well as surface protection, is completely organic and environmentally friendly. It has been designed to eradicate the bacteria and viruses which cause sickness, infection and odour whilst also providing a long lasting protective layer to prevent their ability to grow or spread.
Step1 - The Healthy Buildings process begins with data collection. In order to tailor our services to your needs, we take swab tests of high traffic areas within the space to give a baseline indication of how close it is to being a ‘Healthy Space’. These swab tests are compared with other baseline readings from around the country to ensure we give you the level of service you need and that you arent paying for things you don’t need.
Step2 - is where we create and fill the space with a disinfectant ‘fog’ using EnviroLyte, an organic disinfectant and cleanser. This step is designed to ensure that all of the surfaces in the space are completely free of pathogens. Often its only the surfaces we use every day that we clean, however nano-sized bacteria, viruses or mould spores can come to rest anywhere and with the right conditions, can grow and expand. Within a contained space or an air-conditioned space, dormant pathogens can negate our entire process so by performing the fog, we ensure it is never a problem.
Step3 - is all about your air conditioning. So much of the way that disease and sickness causing bacteria are spread within a space, is through the flow of air. Air conditioning units, regardless of type, contribute greatly to this pathogen spread. Cleaning your air conditioning system on a regular basis is something we all should do, but when was the last time you did it? The bacteria and viruses that make us sick as well as those which cause mould and mildew are small enough to pass directly though almost all air-conditioning filters. Cleaning your air-con unit and implementing a filtration system which actually prevents the transfer of particles and pathogens at the sub-micron level is essential for any ‘Healthy Space’ and is what we do in Step3.
Step4 - removes any resting bacteria, mould and mildew from the surfaces, walls, ceiling and floor. Using the Greenspeed range of microfibre cloths, we wipe down every surface in the space and actively remove any mould or mildew. The fibres in the Greenspeed cloths are 100 time thinner than a human hair and collect any and all particles or bacteria still resting on a surface. This preparation step leaves the space clean and clear of pathogens.
Step5 - is again about data collection. We collect a second round of swab test data to find the level that indicates a clean and pathogen free space. This is the data we compare every test we perform in the future against. It allows us to measure the ongoing effectiveness of our products within your ‘Healthy Space’ and ensures we are always delivering the highest quality service we can.
Step6 - is the major difference between the Healthy Buildings process and any other. This step is where we electostatically apply the organic protective layer which is inhabitable for any bacteria, virus, mold or mildew. This layer, provided by the patented BioProtect molecule, lasts for up to six months and ensures that no new pathogens can exist on a treated surface during that time. This is what we at Healthy Buildings call a ‘Healthy Space’. Somewhere in which the spread of sickness and disease causing pathogens cannot affect a single person. Somewhere in which dangerous mould spores cannot grow or become airborne.
Step7 - is where we gve you all the tools and training you need to maintain your ‘Healthy Space’. General cleaning supplies, including EnviroLyte and Greenspeed Microfibre cloths, so that you can maintain your healthy space with only organic, enviromentally friendly products. Also our Bio-Pure Hand Sanistiser with a foaming dispenser to ensure that any new contaminant within your ‘Healthy Space’ is neutralised as soon as possible. Our Healthy Buildings technician will then run you through everything we have done, the swab test readings we took as will as a quick training session on the simple process to maintain your ‘Healthy Space’.
Step8 - is the continuation of our service. Healthy Buildings wants to help you maintain your ‘Healthy Space’ as much as you do. Our technician will roughly schedule times where we can return to take swab tests of within your ‘Healthy Space’. This not only helps us monitor the effectiveness of the protective layer we applied and when it needs to be replenished, but also gives you the peace of mind that you truly have a ‘Healthy Space’.
Envirolyte is a completely organic disinfectant, sanitiser and cleanser made from hypochlorous acid and sodium hydroxide. It is produced through the electrolysis of ordinary tap water containing dissolved sodium chloride and is becoming more and more popular as the technology to produce the environmentally friendly cleaner is more readily available.
Electrolysed water technology is based on a new, previously unknown law of anomalous changes in the reaction and catalytic abilities of water which is treated with electrolysis. Unlike other approaches to producing the solution, the EnviroLyte patented process allows for even distribution of the brine and reduces the risk of stagnant zones when flow rates of the electrolyte are high. This allows for a highly effective electrolysis process and results in a more concentrated and effective disinfecting agent.
BioProtect is a water based, non-toxic, environmentally friendly molecule that when applied to clean surfaces, forms a highly-durable protective bio-layer which actively safeguards virtually all solid surfaces and fabrics from a broad array of bacteria and microorganisms. Developed in the United States, BioProtect forms a microscopic ‘bed of spikes’ in the form of positively charged carbon atoms that puncture the cell walls of microbes and bacteria coming to rest on a treated surface. These nano-sized ‘spikes’ penetrate and shock the microbes to deliver a mechanical kill which restricts the microbe’s ability to mutate and breed more resilient or deadly strains that are then resistant to current day disinfectants, solvents and cleaners.
It is used in conjunction with a simple cleaning process and keeps surfaces clean in between cleanings. BioProtect also allows you to use less abrasive, enviromentally friendly cleaning procedures because the molecule remains in place taking care of problems after any cleaning products dissipate or are wiped off.
Bio-Pure Hand Sanitiser, based on the active ingredient Benzalkonium Chloride, is a unique gel formulation that features exceptional skin feel, conditioning and moisturizing properties. The efficacy of this product has been confirmed to reduce disease and virus causing pathogens as much as 99.999% in as little as 15 seconds. Its leave-on hand sanitiser, which allows it an increased effectiveness period whilst being non-flammable, non-damaging to skin, persistent, and will not stain clothing or flooring.
Pathogens have been shown to be able to spread through the air over long distances. Air-conditioning units contribute to this process greatly because submicron particles have little to no weight and therefore nominal gravitational pull. They move on the wind, acting more like a gas than a particle and remain suspended almost indefinitely. The filters used in most air-conditioning systems were designed to protect the coil from dirt rather than to filter pathogens from the air. Submicron, permanently suspended particles, are pulled into the air-conditioning system through the return vents, mixed at the coil and redistributed to all rooms. Harmful bacteria, viruses, mould and mildew are spread throughout a building in this simple process while people remain completely unaware.
The Sanders Air Conditioning Filter was designed to filter submicron particles as they enter the air-con unit. After installing these filters over all return vents, submicron pathogens are trapped and held to prevent mixing and redistribution of particles to other rooms. This design provides a highly efficient filter, upstream of the existing holding frames, that completely seals the air-flow. The total protection system can be configured for various levels to capture submicron particles and gases.
Never before in the history of air filtration has it been possible to filter at the sub-micron level without making extensive changes to existing filtration systems. The Sanders Containment Filter provides affordable, high-end filtration for hospitals, nursing homes, commercial offices, data-centres, schools, industrial plants and residential homes. Anywhere people live, work and play submicron filtration should be used.
Our laundry program provides a tool to treat all kinds of laundry from industrial situations all the way through to the family home. BioProtect Laundry inhibits 99.99% of bacteria on all types of cloth and greatly increases the level of infection and odour control in healthcare settings. The unique mechanism provided by the BioProtect molecule destroys odour and stain-causing microbes while providing a residual protective barrier that extends the life of fabrics. This cost- effective system will provide a biostatic barrier to keep bacteria, fungi, algae and yeast from treated cloth. It creates persistently clean laundry while better preserving the fabric, thus increasing the useful life of a garment.
The Greenspeed products we use in our process are highly effective, microfiber cloths which are designed to provide the best possible medium for cleaning. Microfiber cloths are constructed of a star shaped nylon centre surrounded by pie shaped polyester wedges to form fibres that are 100 times thinner than a human hair. These tiny fibres penetrate microscopic surface pores and possess a positive electrostatic charge which attracts, collects and holds dirt, dust, bacteria, pollen, and other organic particles. The density of the material also enables it to hold six times its weight in water, making it more absorbent than a conventional cotton cloth or mop
The basis of the Healthy Buildings approach is testing and feedback. Over the entire delivery of our service, we periodically perform surface swab tests to ensure your building is as healthy as it possibly be. We do this, not only to prove that the Healthy Buildings products are consistently working, but to give you the peace of mind that you’re living, working or playing in a truly healthy space. It also helps us to fine tune the service we provide you. The surface swab and air quality data that comes from our testing allows us to tailor the delivery of your service. All of the tests are recorded in a nationwide database which allows us to map cleaning processes and continually improve the service we deliver.
